공예가들은 인간의 몸과 자연이 맺고 있는 직접적인 관계를 매 순간 확인하며 작업합니다. 공예는 인간과 자연 사이에 수천 년간 이어진 직접적이고 육체적인 교감과 공진화의 역사이자 결과물입니다.
2023년도 청주공예비엔날레는 공예가 가진 이런 특별한 능력과 힘, 그리고 인간과 자연의 공진화로 만들어진 다양한 사물들과 그들 사이의 관계에 주목합니다. 사물이 어디에서 와서, 어떤 관계항을 만들며, 어디로 향하고 있는가? 라는 ‘빅히스토리’와 ‘빅퀘스천’의 확장된 시각에서 더 넓고 더 높은 차원의 대문자 ‘사물(Objets)’의 항해를 시작합니다.
Craft artists confirm such a fact every moment they work, due to their direct relationship with the human body and nature. The crafts they create are the history and results of the direct and physical rapport and coevolution that continued for millennia between people and nature.
The Cheongju Craft Biennale 2023 focuses on the special ability and power of crafts, various objects created by humanity and nature’s coevolution, and the relationships between them. We commence the voyage of objects of a broader and higher dimension, from the expanded perspective of the "big history" and "big question" of where objects come from, what relationships they create, and where they are headed.
